I have decided that the mobile lifestyle really rocks! About a month ago I finally took the plunge and bought my first laptop, a nice Compaq Presario with built in wireless hookup, which I instantly took advantage of. Now I can sit in my mostly-comfy chair in the living room and surf the net or pay bills (yuck) while watching DVDs. It would be cool if I could somehow get the DVDs to work on the TV in my office without lugging the player back there, or buying a new one. One step at a time I guess.

I have had a handheld computer for years, long before the Palm came along. For some of the computer crusties out there I had a Psion 3a as my first hand held. I switched to a palm more for work reasons - to learn about how the interface works. I still use it and I figure a Palm (or Pocket PC for those more Window$ inclined) will always have its place. Even those tablet notebooks are too big and bulky to tote around the store when you go shopping (yes, I keep my shopping list on my Palm).

With the cable modem and laptop I am really getting into some of the "geeky things" (although they may not be geeky anymore) such as Netflix. I am considering Audible as well, although right now I am trying out Blockbuster's internet DVD renting so money is a little tight for such things. More on that later.

I guess my next step is probably a cell phone that can take pictures, and maybe a plan that actually has some minutes on it (my 1994 era plan only costs $9.95 a month though...) and maybe getting my cordless phone hooked back up. That or dump the OS on my old computer and set it up as a media computer. It has a 1 Ghz processor and an 80 gig HD which would be perfect for media storage. Hmmm.... I've been wanting to try Linux...
